Journey Installers are responsible for providing a superior customer experience through the delivery, layout, installation and reconfiguration of office and commercial furniture.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apprentice Installer Training Program: Must complete the Apprentice Installer Training Program and demonstrate proficiencies of company processes, the safe and proper use of equipment, systems furniture installation knowledge and other methods or tasks required to be recognized as a Journey Installer. The length of this program may vary depending on experience and abilities.
  • Jobsite/Project Efficiency: Analyze, plan and prepare for the installation requirements and bring all required tools to the jobsite each day. Load/unload delivery trucks at worksite or Forrer warehouse. Assemble, place, clean and fine-tune a variety of modular and free-standing office furniture. Maintain project pace in order to meet customer deadlines and adhere to labor budget. Support project closing process as required and directed.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform installations and standard repairs in the field to furniture accessories as required to reduce or eliminate issue tickets. Inspect installations maintaining the highest quality standards reporting out-of-scope work, completion status and quality issues to lead installer and/or project manager. Provide first-line problem solutions and communicate action steps to lead installer and/or project manager and the manager-installation services for resolution and implementation.
  • Commitment to Safety: Ensure and practice appropriate cleanliness and safe operation of all vehicles, power tools and equipment. Continuously follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Remove and dispose of packaging materials and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Inspect and report vehicle maintenance and operating issues to manager-installation services.
  • Follow Up: Complete and submit required paperwork including job tickets, delivery tickets, issue tickets, expense reports, timesheets, punchlists and installation drawings. Document activities and time by completing standard forms and records pertaining to job activities and time spent on job tasks.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Physical Requirements: Must meet and maintain the physical requirements of the job. Ability to handle heavy loads of bulky furniture including the ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, bend, crawl, kneel, climb and perform overhead/body work continuously and on a daily basis.
  • Driving Requirements: Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation to and from job sites as required. Must be able to drive company vehicles and transport materials as required.
  • Hours and Work Environment: Individual must meet or exceed company productivity standards. Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Must maintain a flexible work schedule with possible varying shifts and able to work scheduled overtime as required, including nights and weekends. The majority of time is spent at customer locations. Some out-of-town work may be required with advance notice.
  • Union Membership: Must become a member of the Teamsters Local 200.

Education and Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Furniture industry or experience in a related field a plus.
  • Knowledge of furniture symbols and the ability to read blueprints desired.
