One of the oldest Montessori schools in Milwaukee, Highland Community School was looking for a solution to transform their 7th and 8th grade classrooms into an environment that supports their unique style of teaching and learning.
Highland Community School’s goal was to offer their students a variety of positions, postures and locations within the classroom to enable them to study, collaborate and socialize as they switch between subjects and learning modes.
Forrer worked with the Highland Community School staff to create defined areas within the room, allowing cross-functional teaching and learning to occur with ease. Standing height tables with stools, integrated technology, relaxed lounge-style chairs and light-weight mobile furniture enable students to do concentrated work or collaborate with peers easily and effectively.
The end result is a contemporary classroom that accommodates technology, teamwork and the learning styles of individual students all within one environment.
